3-Octanol has an odor like strong and mushroom like and is easily soluble in alcohol, not soluble in water. Also, it is used for manufacturing esters that are used for fragrances in the perfumery industry and also for making several types of artificial flavors. It is extensively used for making orange flavoring and other food additives artificially.
