Vitexin is an apigenin flavone C-glycoside isolated from Crataegus spp. (hawthorn), Passiflora spp. (passionflower), P. glaucum R. Br. (pearl millet), P. nigra (bamboo leaves), V. agnuscastus L. (chasteberry), and various other tropical plant species.
The flavonoid Vitexin is a flavone C-glycoside (apigenin-8-C-β-D-glucopyranoside) present in several medicinal and other plants. Plant extracts containing Vitexin are reported to possess antinociceptive, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant activities.
