Punicic Acid is a polyunsaturated long-chain fatty acid with an 18-carbon backbone and exactly three double bonds, originating from the 5th, 7th and 9th positions from the methyl end, with these three bonds in the cis-, trans- and cis- configurations, respectively.

Punicic acid (also called trichosanic acid) is a polyunsaturated fatty acid, 18:3 (n-5). It is named for the pomegranate, (Punica granatum), and is obtained from pomegranate seed oil. It is also found in the seed oils of snake gourd.
